Well & Septic HQ publishes independent, sourced decision support for septic systems, private wells, and rural water quality. The site is published by Journey Bound Media, LLC. Contact us at wellandseptichq@gmail.com with any question about this policy or your data.
We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade personal information, and we run no advertising on this site. There is no ad network here, so none of the cross-site advertising identifiers that usually justify a policy this long exist on wellandseptichq.com.
Four services can receive data when you visit. Each is named here with what it does and what it gets.
PostHog records page views and a small number of specific, named interactions, principally clicks on links that take you to an outside retailer. It sets a cookie to recognize a returning browser and assigns it a random identifier that is not tied to your name, and it receives your IP address, page URL, referrer, and device and browser details. We use it to see which guides answer the question people arrived with, and to count outbound clicks.
Two things it deliberately does not do. It does not record your session: no replay, no mouse movement, no keystrokes. That is Clarity's job below, and running two recorders would double the collection for one answer. It also does not capture clicks indiscriminately; only the interactions we have named in code are sent, so the great majority of what you do on a page is never transmitted anywhere. We hold no account for you, you cannot log in here, and nothing we send PostHog identifies you as a person.
Microsoft Clarity records how visitors move through pages, includingsession recordings, a replay of mouse movement, scrolling, clicks, and page changes during a visit, as well as click and scroll heatmaps. It receives your IP address, device and browser details, and on-page interactions. We use it to find pages people abandon, and to monitor responsiveness.
Clarity masks the content of input fields in every masking mode; that behavior cannot be turned off. Microsoft is a data controller for what Clarity collects, and its handling of that data is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Clarity is loaded only when the site is configured with a Clarity project ID; where it is not configured, the script is not served at all.
The site is hosted on Vercel, which necessarily processes the requests your browser makes, including your IP address, in order to serve pages. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and reports aggregate figures (country, referrer, browser) without cookies and without an identifier that follows you between visits.
Google Analytics 4 counts visits and reports where they came from. It sets its own cookies to distinguish one browser from another across visits, and it receives your IP address, page URL, referrer, and approximate location derived from that address. It runs in its default configuration: we have added no custom events, no goals, and no conversion tracking, so what it collects is page views and the standard measurement Google performs on any site carrying the tag. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Why it is here, plainly: affiliate programs ask applicants for third-party traffic figures, and Google Analytics is the report they expect to be shown. It has to have been running to have a history worth showing, which is why it is on before we have applied. It is not used to personalize anything and there are no ads on this site to target.
There is one email field on this site. It posts to an endpoint that does not write to any database, so nothing you type into it is stored, and we could not retrieve it if you asked us to. There is no mailing list behind it yet and no list to unsubscribe from.
The way to reach us is wellandseptichq@gmail.com, and an email you send us is held in that mailbox and nowhere else. If we later turn on a form that actually captures and stores what you enter, this page will say so, naming what is collected and where it is kept, before that form goes live.
We use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to see which searches lead to this site. Those tools report aggregate, search-engine-side data about queries and impressions; they run nothing in your browser and receive no information about you from this site.
This site sets no advertising cookies and no cookies of its own beyond what the services above require. In practice that is a PostHog analytics cookie, Clarity's cookies, and Google Analytics' cookies. Vercel Web Analytics sets none. There is nothing here to personalize an ad with, because there are no ads.
Our current posture: no consent banner. We show no cookie dialog today. Both Clarity and Google Analytics expect an explicit consent signal for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland before their cookies may be used; without that signal each limits what it collects in those regions rather than collecting it anyway. This site is written for United States homeowners and its audience is overwhelmingly US-based.
You can block or clear cookies for this site in your browser at any time. Nothing on wellandseptichq.com is gated behind accepting one: every guide, calculator, and figure works with cookies switched off.
There is currently nothing submitted through this site to retain: no form stores what you enter, and there is no mailing list. Analytics data follows the default retention windows set by each of PostHog, Microsoft Clarity, Google Analytics, and Vercel. Email you send us directly stays in our mailbox until you ask us to remove it.
Send a deletion request to wellandseptichq@gmail.com; we honor it within 30 days, and where the answer is that we hold nothing, we will tell you that. You can ask for a copy of what we hold at the same address. If a request needs identity verification we will ask for the minimum that establishes it and nothing more.
Well & Septic HQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact wellandseptichq@gmail.com and we will delete it.
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, USA, consistent with our terms of service.
We update this page as our data practices change, and we date-stamp it the same way we date-stamp a price: the date below is when we last checked it end to end against what the site actually does.
