    How Often to Pump a Septic Tank

They also need a service contract, since they carry mechanized parts.

    Additives do not change this math

    It is tempting to look for a product that stretches the interval out. Minnesota's extension program says no. Some additives even cause solids to stay suspended in the liquid instead of settling out.

    Those suspended solids end up carried into the drainfield. That causes damage, not less maintenance.
